Recently, my husband and I decided to take a spontaneous road trip—just for the day—to escape the hustle and get out of town. No work, no to-do list, just a chance to breathe and explore somewhere that didn’t demand anything from us. We love cruising through the countryside, soaking in the wide-open spaces, the vast properties, and the peaceful silence where there are no houses for miles. It’s in those quiet moments that the rural lifestyle really speaks to our souls.

Even though we live on a farm, we’re close to town, so we don’t experience the same level of isolation that those sprawling properties offer. Sure, being that remote comes with its downsides—like being far from coffee shops, grocery stores, or family—but there’s something about that lifestyle that tugs at our hearts. It calls to us, stirring a longing for simplicity and space.

As we wound our way through a forest road, we stumbled upon an old fire tower, long since decommissioned. She stood tall and proud, weathered but still beautiful—a silent sentinel of days gone by. Sadly, she’s now considered too old and fragile to serve her original purpose. In her prime, countless forestry workers depended on her to spot dangers and keep entire communities safe. Now, age has caught up with her. She’s been deemed unsafe and left to slowly decay, though efforts are underway to restore her to her former glory.

That fire tower struck a chord with me.

How often do we, as women, feel like that tower? We’ve spent years standing strong—watching over our families, keeping alert to dangers, guiding our kids through life’s twists and turns. We’ve been the reliable ones, the foundation, the protectors. And now, with our children grown and life shifting gears, we can sometimes feel like we’ve been “decommissioned” too—no longer needed in the same way, a little lost in the aftermath of raising a family.

Maybe the same has happened in our businesses. We’ve been doing things the same way for so long, we might feel stuck or like the spark has faded. We’ve weathered storms, but somewhere along the way, we forgot to fuel ourselves.

But here’s the thing—just like that fire tower, we’re not done. We’re not too old. We’re not broken or useless. We just need a little restoration—a power-up.

If this resonates with you, I have something special to share. There’s a free 5-day online event called The Energetic Millionaire, hosted by two amazing women who have walked this same path.
